Casino location ? City buys 285 acres

Dodge City Globe, July 4, 2007
"285 acres purchased by city west of 14th and north of the by-pass" ? Is this correct? Just was clearing out older papers -- darn, didn't read the paper that day.

Any thoughts ? Article link added: Water rights and ground

Wasn't this property bought for water rights?

You can buy waters right without buying all those acres, right ?

You are indeed correct.

Is it possible that Mrs. Rost would not sell the rights to the water without selling the property also? Don't know, just asking!

Maybe someone should ask her.

I think the land was bought for two (2) reasons. 1) water 2) a location for the SEC.

I believe that you are wrong on the location. I am pretty sure it is west of 14th and north of highway 56, caddy-corner from the DCRP property. That would be the ground west of the old DS&D Electric and Broedfeldts(sp) Oil, south of the city limits.

Yes Bubba67801, that is the spot!
